Creation of Brackets
I am new to this great software, if you don't count being brand new in 20011. My question concerns, I think, the application of a "Bracket" on the score in order to create a piano harmony for tenor and alto parts. When I have the bracket on the score, I double click it to access the drag handle. But when I drag it down to the next line, it won't stick. The handle returns to the original, single line position.
Thanks in advance for any guidance.

3.6.2? (https://musescore.org/en/download)
Attach here the score.
If you use one of the templates for choral music, brackets should be created automatically. And as mentioned, in 3.6.2, the brackets are to some extent managed automatically even if you add instruments manually rather than using a template.
When adding brackets manually, normally you'd do it by selecting the staves you want connected then clicking the bracket in the palette - no dragging or handles needed. But if you're saying dragging handles isn't working, I'm wondering if maybe you are trying to bracket completely separate systems. That won't work - has to be staves within a single system.
if you continue to have trouble, then as suggested above, please attach your score so we can understand and assist better.

Thanks so much for the hint on using the template choral music! This is exactly where I was trying to get to. The reason I didn't attach a score is because it was just a blank slate. I am really new to the software and to music notation.
I'm trying to learn because I've joined my church choir and am trouble following the music as I attempt to sing the correct notes. This should help immensely. Again, thanks everyone for all of the suggestions!
