Unable to open MIDI file

Hi,

I have been trying to import a standard MIDI file from a ProTools 5.1 DAW on Mac OS9, and I get the message:
Cannot read file, (file name) unknown type. The file opens in my system and in Garage Band on my 2020 MacBook Air. Does anyone have any ideas?
