Reset beams
Despite many attempts to open this function ( Format /reset beams/ ) nothing is happening ...am I doing something wrong ?

What would you expect to happen? Those beams already follow the pattern of the time signature.
Just looking in the wrong place - been there, done that...!
R-click on the time signature, then in the Inspector open the Properties tab.
