No "fix". Most scores wouldn't beam across the barline so default is not to. If you want to override the default, click on the note you want to link and select Beam Start.

oh thanks! (btw I "cross bar beam" a lot so yeah...)

AFAIK cross-system beaming is not yet supported.

The way the layout algorithms worked in the past, there was no easy solution to this - and I know I tried for quite a while to find a way. The relevant parts of the algorithms have been almost completely rewritten for MuseScore 4. Definitely worth considering whether somehow it's more feasible now.
