Not directly, but you can use instrument changes - which you can make invisible - to achieve that.

Or (ab)use voices+channels for that
This is a really good idea. Maybe you could add it to the suggestions list, (if MS4 doesn't already have this feature). It would be good with classical guitar when entering notes such as natural harmonics or palm mutes.
Instrument changes do work but an automated version would be more efficient, especially as the indicators will already be in the score as instructions to the human player.
