The smoothPan cursor is visible as the score plays but it is mostly covered by the regular cursor (the dark blue one), making the smooth cursor essentially useless.
Requesting a feature that would allow the user to disable the regular cursor so that the smooth cursor is the only one displayed.

Broadened the request as we've had some requests for disabling the normal highlight for other purposes (mostly screencast related) as well. Your request just highlights (pun intended) another reason/use case for which such an ability would have value.
