This doesn't open for me either. But when I create something, change it to classical guitar, save and close, it reopens. My file started out as a violin line.

I can't explain it, attached is the original file I was working with, try changing the top line to classical guitar with (right click> Staff/part properties) May be there is something wrong with the original file. I downloaded this file for musescore library
Thank you,
Robert

It stems from MuseScore 2.3.2 and from

I don't have any such problem. Try the one I attached below

As Guitar is an octave transposing instrument or rather notates with an ottava bassa treble clef, so you'd need to move the notes of the entire staff an octave down, after the instrument change

That one looks bad indeed, MuseScore seems to go into an endless loop when trying to load it.
That Guitar staff has a pretty bogus transpositioning:
That can't be right

I had the same problem with the one you sent me too. once I change it to classical guitar, I no longer can open the file.. I attached the original music pdf file, the musescore seems to match, the person that created the musescore file was true to the original music.

Yes, what did you do different that what I did ?

I see that the original file is from V 2.3.2
I opened it in 3.6.2 and then saved it. I guess that updates it. Then I reopened it.
Changed the top line to Classical guitar.
Brought the part down an octave.
Saved again.
I think saving the V2version first is what did it. But I know little of these things.

I did that too with same results. At this point I am happy with the file you sent me.. in theory I would like to know what happened to avoid it in the future, but then again I also would like to be rich and young but oh well , I'll live with I have.
Thank you for the file.

More accurately, my step 2 was "opened in 3.6.2, did a SAVE AS ( not just a save) with a different name". Different name so I wouldn't mix them up.
