disable midi device
How can the midi device be disabled in Musescore so that it is available for the DAW?
A DAW and Musescore are open simultaneously. During mixing on the DAW the score can be checked or changed on Musescore. The midi device is needed only in the DAW. Any edits in Musescore will be done on the Qwerty keyboard, not midi. However, Musescore takes control of the midi device when opened.
Edit>preferences>Midi input does not have a 'none' selection or a disable feature. Unchecking the Enable MIDI Input box in Edit>preferences>Note Input didn't work.

Which version of MuseScore are you talking about? As far as I know the current version of MuseScore - 3.6.2 - should allow you to disable MIDI input as well as output. If you mean one of the experimental pre-release builds of MuseScore 4, this has been fixed from I hear, so be sure to test with a currently nightly. And if you continue to have problems, please report on GitHub as requested in the beta announcement

Thanks Marc for your reply. I am using 3.6. What are the keystrokes necessary to disable Midi?

To disable MIDI input, just click the toolbar icon. To disable output, it should be possible to select nothing in the dropdown in Edit / Preferences / I/O. but, that might depend on your OS and/or your devices, not really sure.
