Continuous view -- can I disable the start-of-system ghosted items?
My first use of "continuous view" was just what I was looking for... until I started moving further along the score measures. I didn't expect to see a ghosted view of the start of the system (I don't know how to describe it). It gets more distracting when higher zoom levels are used.
I can't find a way to turn off / disable the ghosted items? Thanks.

In continuous view these are just reminders about the key and time signature, the bar number and which line applies to which instrument. As far as I know they can't be switched off totally an only for continuous view.
Parts of them can be hidden for each staff seperately in the Staff/Part Properties dialogue but the space where they have been will remain grey.
If you do this it is also hidden in page view.
I find this helpful!

Appreciated, HildeK... Personally, I find them quite annoying the more I zoom into the score. Que sara...

I think you'd find that without them, it would be almost completely impossible to keep track of which staves you were looking at. But if you really want to try, you could stay in page view and just set a crazy large page size, so it's still just one long system.

It might seem to some that the benefit of the "ghost guides" should justify their inclusion in page view. I didn't expect them to become present, when I entered continuous view. Who knows, after some weeks, my opinion may radically shift...

You can R-click and use Stave/Part Properties to hide the clefs and time signatures. You still get ghost key signatures but surely you'd want them?

@Brer Fox... Eventually I'll come to rely on them. With the preponderance of larger scores I work on, I had gotten use to knowing where in the score I was - w/o guides.

Hmm, I thought you said this was your first time using continuous view - how did you become used to it in continuous view before? Continuous view has never not had the guides, so I don't see how you could have done this.
Page view is totally different, you can see the beginning of the staff left inches to your left, no matter how deep into the score you are. That's what makes continuous view qualitatively different. But as mentioned, you can coerce page view into functioning pretty much the same way but without the guides.

Maybe 2 days ago was my first foray into continuous view. I expect to get used to the guides with time.

Change the value of [ui/score/layoutBreakColor] to match your paper color.
Of course, this obscures a small part of the start of each stave but it doesn't sound as if this will bother you. It also hides any breaks but you won't be needing to see them in Continuous View.
