Musescore 4 Kontakt not appearing in the dropdown menu of mixer
I've just downloaded Musescore 4 and it's stunning. The only thing is that some VSTs don't show up in the dropdown menu of the mixer. For instance, I have many of the spitfire libraries, and the only one that shows up is Appassionata Strings. Similarly, Kontakt doesn't show up at all. Has anyone encountered this? Help would be appreciated, please.

For Win11 22H2 user,
MS4 calls all VST3 file from
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3
just copy Kontakt 7.vst3 to the above folder once it doesn't exist

Thank you so much for responding and providing a solution. I’m using a Mac though.

Found all VST3 files located on my intel Mac.
Mac HD > Library > Audio > Plug-Ins > VST3
copy kontakt based .VST3 files to the above,
then MS4 shows up Kontakt in mixer.

Thank you again. I tried that but it didn’t work. I think it has something to do with the fact that I have two separate folders in the plug-in. One is VST and the other VST3. The VST3 libraries are appearing in the muescore but the VSTs aren’t.
Instead of copying the installed vst3, go to Edit → Preferences → General → Folders and add the folder to look for to the VST list.

Thank you for your message and help! . Forgive my ignorance , but do you mean in musescore? When I go to edit, there is no preferences option. Same with Finder.

Yes, I meant from within MuseScore.
If you only have VST2 you are out of luck. Steinberg doesn't allow anyone to develop new applications with VST2 support (only those that once got a VST2 SDK license are allowed to continue using them), and VST2 SDK is also not legally compatible with open source software.
I assume for these reasons, only VST3 plugins are supported.

This is correct.
