Being a drummer, this is something I am also interested in. What I've heard in recent months following MuseScore development is that improvements to support for drum notation might come in a 4.x version.
There is indeed open, closed, and pedal hi hat in MS3 and MS4. The pain for me is the odd method of note input that MuseScore insists on using.
