Cannot specify playback to play only part of a chord, MS4 forces all or nothing

See attached. I want MS4 to play only part of the chord (the main notes), with the small notes in parentheses indicating an alternate expressive melody that should not be played back. When I go into Properties, click a small note, and uncheck "Play", playback omits the entire chord. When I go to the big note and re-check "Play", MS4 plays the entire chord (both the main note and the small note). MS3 this worked fine.

Fully appreciate MS4 is revolutionary and any transformation this significant is prone to bugs, so just trying to help make awesome even better. Thanks team!
