1) Create a rest
2) Add a dot to the rest
3) Set the rest's visibility off

The dot will remain visible. This also happens if the entire measure is selected and seems to happen regardless the duration of the rest.

I am not surprised that an element remains visible when you have not chosen to make it invisible. I mean, I can see your point, but there will be situations where making everything associated with the note or rest invisible is not desired - what about when you have an invisible rest but it has a visible fermata or a lyric or other special cases?.

Your second point - I tried selecting a whole bar and pressing V and everything selected became invisible for me.

I tried the hotkey 'V' and it did make everything invisible. The problem seems to be when selecting the measure and clicking the visible checkbox in the properties menu. Oddly, when you do click that checkbox and every but the dot is turned invisible, then press the 'V' hotkey it inverts the measure - everything but the dot is visible.
