Can't prevent chords

There appears to be no way to tell Musescore to not create chords when playing legato. Previous tips suggest there used to be a way to do that but it got removed? This is making Musescore almost useless when using a midi keyboard. Optimally, it would figure out note duration and legato, staccato or chords based on playing but short of that we should at least be able to "turn chords off."
