Accessibility tutorials for MuseScore 4

• Jan 24, 2023 - 22:16

I have created a series of tutorials to help blind users get started using MuseScore 4. The videos cover everything you need to install MuseScore, set up a score, enter music, add other markings, and find your way around the user interface. These videos will put you in a position to be able to take full advantage of other more general documentation such as my online course Mastering MuseScore 4 or the online Handbook.

There are currently five videos in the series, and you can find them in this YouTube playlist. The tutorials are recorded on Windows using NVDA and the narration and screenreader feedback are designed to make sure the videos themselves are accessible as well. The tutorials should apply equally well for the other supported systems and screenreaders (eg, JAWS and Narrator on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS, Orca on Linux).

Perhaps you should add a note about how you think a blind person would find a video useful. Is the audio enough to understand? Or do you actually need to view the video (with your eyes).
