Monophonic Keyboard input

Loving Musescore 4 but seems to be monophonic with a lot of latency when I play MIDI keyboard into it whether note input mode is switched on or not. I can input polyphonic notes in step input ( they show up on the stave) but the playback of what I am playing seems to be seems to be monophonic.
