chord or note length

Not necessarily a bug, but probably op error. With piano, I am charting by hear a song that has a run in the intro and thru-out the song. I need the chords to ring or sound short or choppy. I call it bumps.
ex 2-3-4-5 instead i am getting them like almost someone is holding the sustain pedal down slightly

Example I feel good by J. Brown, on the "I feel good, bump, bump part. the chords should chop!
