3 Musescore problems
I have some major problems with Musescore 4.
-
On at least two of my computers I cannot change the audio device. Sometimes I can change it in the interface for that session, but the next time I start Musescore it has reverted back to the default device. Sometimes I cannot change it at all - I click on the combo box and there's no other choice but the default device (other applications have all possible devices listed.)
-
Muse Hub Service cannot be changed to Disabled or Manual. It can be stopped and started, but the Startup Type cannot be changed, even if Services is run as Administrator. This seems to me to be user-hostile.
-
The worst is peculiar to one of my three computers. After running and closing Musescore4, the interface disappears, but the process continues to run, and that process cannot be killed. An attempt to do so gives an Access Denied error. Each start of the program leaves an additional phantom process. I must reboot the computer to get rid of them. I see an error in Event Viewer that appears to be related to it: "Event ID 10005: DCOM got error "1084" attempting to start the service ShellHWDetection with arguments "Unavailable" in order to run the server: {DD522ACC-F821-461A-A407-50B198B896DC}. I have uninstalled/reinstalled it several times to no avail. Running it in Safe Mode, the program briefly flashes on the screen, then disappears, no process left.
-
And lastly, more of annoying than deadly: Musescore 4 always starts maximized. I want it to start in the state I last left it, usually Restored.
Any comments? Has anybody else seen these things? Any suggestions?

Some observations.
When you go to change audio devices make sure you are clicking on the right side of the box where a down arrow is sometimes. Yes, the next time you start MU4 it might say Default Device. I suspect that is because if I haven't changed devices, my prior choice is the default. In any event my prior choice is what is listed as the system default.
I use the Hub to check for updates. Then I scroll to the bottom and hit "Quit". The next time I use it, I start it from the Windows Start Menu.
I run MU4 on three computers, also. I can't say I've ever had any problem closing the program. I think whether it opens in full screen or not depends on If I saved anything just prior to shut down. Either way, I just put it in the state I want and move on. Why? Seems to me there are other things to worry about that bother me more.
Do your computers meet all the minimum specs to run MU4?
