Playback on MuaeScore 4

Last time I downloaded MuseScore 4, it drove me to distraction. I removed every vestige of it and went back to MuseScore 3.

This time, with all the good write-up about it, I decided to give it another try, so I started to transcribe JINGLE BELL ROCK from a piano setting, into a quartet for Recorder Consort. This copy I found in the Browse section.
Unfortunately, it is virtually impossible for me to listen to what I have put down so far: each note is being repeated, very quickly and annoyingly into a garbled cacophony. A grace note I have added seems to be a big problem and the few bars I have completed sound atrocious!

Can you tell me what I am doing incorrectly, because working in this condition, is very frustrating and truly unsatisfactory. I know that the fault does not lie with the computer, because MuseScore 3 is as good as it has ever been.

Luckily I have not deleted it and I managed to sosrst out a quintet for recorders (addaed below) with Muse Score 3.
