Tremolo does not work
Tremolos are not applying to notes, no matter what I do. I've looked at similar posts, and all refer to older versions than what I have (MuseScore 3), so I would have thought that the issue would be fixed right now. Any idea what's going on?

Can you post again and attach a copy of a score with tremolos that don't work?

I'm arranging a Michael Giacchino song for concert band and I need to add suspended cymbal, timpani, and percussion rolls but can't.

No tremolos show up when I open your score. How are you trying to add them and where?

No that's my point. When I try to add them, they don't work. They should be added just like an accent or dynamics, right?
For instance, I want to add a roll to the timpani part on beat 3 of measure 37 and continue through the whole notes. Can you figure out what's going on and what I'm missing?

Select the note you want the roll on. Go to the tremolo palette. Select (don't drag) one of the through the stem tremolos. Even on the whole notes. The stemless tremolos are for things like two notes on a piano.
I just did this on your score and it worked.
Open this score:

Look at Percussion 2 (bottom staff), 4th measure on page 1. It has no tremolo (roll).
Page 2 has a roll.

and be aware of the difference between a one-note or one-chord tremolo and a two-note or two-chord tremolo.
My bad lol I was trying to use the two-note tremolos. Thanks for the help!
I'm having the same problem someone else expressed with tremolo. I want to add tremolo to a series of tied whole notes. I've tried selecting one whole note and then clicking on the icon for the 3 tremolo lines. Nothing happens. I also tried selecting the 3 whole notes slurred together for which I want to indicate tremolo. Still nothing happens. I've tried clicking on the tremolo icon, double-clicking on it, and also tried to click and drag it onto the note. Nothing works. Help? I'm using a new Macbook Pro, btw.

Make sure you are clicking on the single note tremolo. The icon you want shows the tremolo lines on a note stem - even though whole notes don't have stems. The stemless icons are for two note tremolos.
