Muse Sounds: good, but not great
This isn't a support issue per se, but I wanted to bring up a small but persistent degree of frustration with Muse Sounds. Simply stated, when they sound good, they're very good, but the inaccuracies are such that they're not where I'd like them to be. More often than not, I find myself going back to MS Basic sounds, because while the sounds aren't as "pretty," they are more accurate.
I included a work-in-progress file as an example. The piano sounds terrific—no complaints there at all—but the solo violin has some noticeable issues. There are frequently glissandi between notes when none is written, and some pitches are actually out of tune. And then there's the decrescendo in m. 22: It definitely gets softer, so much so that, when we get to m. 23, the violin is completely silent even though there is music to be played. The violin has a pleasing sound most of the time, but it's not playing the music as written.
Don't get me wrong: I love MuseScore, and I recommend it to everyone I know. While Muse Sounds has taken a significant step forward from MS Basic in terms of tone quality, it's taken a huge step backwards in terms of accuracy and usability. I look forward to future revisions that will, I hope, unlock the potential that is there while solving some of its most glaring problems.
