How do I get MS 4 to sound the note when I add it to the score

EDIT/Preferences/Note Input/ play notes when editing
is checked, but it doesn't do it

On my PC your score plays notes while editing. So perhaps you might try Help > Revert to Factory Settings ?

But I did notice that MS4 sometimes fails to play the first note I entered. There is some kind of lag, which is certainly not what I am used to in MS3.
