This is one of the files in question. But ugh I have so many more older ones.

Done with 3.3.4 you can open it with later versions (In attachments by going through 3.6.2 first).

The file extension has a comma at the end, it is a backup file.
This prevents MuseScore from opening the file via double-click, because this extension is not registered by your operating system.
Remove it in your file explorer by renaming to "mscz" ...
Alternatively: Open the file from Musescore by File/Open
Regarding file compability:
You can open files saved with an older version with newer program versions, but not vice versa.
