note names
Musescore 3 allowed you to format your notes with the note letters superimposed on each note. I can't figure out how to do that in Musescore 4. The Note Names plugin is enabled on my system. Thanks in advance for your help!

How do you do that on Musescore 3? I'm behind the times and would love to know.

superimposed to me means on top of the notehead rather than above or below it- when I use the note names plugin it writes them above the fingering

Yes, as you said, that places them above the staff. (Not what I wanted). But I think I figured it out (see below)

In Musescore 3, go to Staff Properties > Advance Staff Properties and then pick "Pitch Name".

Ah, that, yes. Same I in Mu4.
That plugin should work in Mu4 , but would use the English notenames. That issue will be fixed in 4.1
The Note Names plugin doesn't seem to superimpose the letter on the note the way it was in Musescore 3. Instead, it places it in the staff text.
But when I load a composition I did in Musescore 3 into Musescore 4, it displays it properly, just as it did in Version 3 (see attachment). What I'm having trouble with is, how do I activate this feature in Musescore 4. In the previous version, I would go to Staff Properties > Advance Staff Properties and then pick "Pitch Name". I don't see how to do that in Version 4. I'm pretty sure it's there, I just can't find it.

I figured it out. The following steps allow you to display the pitch names in the note head. It's a bit more cumbersome than it was in Version 3, but it works.

I do notice that unlike with Version 3, any new notes you add will not have the pitch names, even if you select the entire score when applying the above steps. If you add anything new to your score you'll have to carry out the steps again. You can modify an existing note and it will update the pitch name. But new notes won't display them automatically.

Strange, does it after close and reopen score?
Hold on, if you don't use the staff property this is what it should be, you are applying a change to a certain set of notes.

Yes, it seems that's the way the new one works. It only affects those notes you specify. In the old version it applied the formatting to the entire score.

It changes all if you select all or none.
I came by this thread looking for note names as a beginner and poor reader. If you read this and you're like me consider my solution; this plugin https://musescore.org/en/project/note-names
Click on a note in your score
Click on "Staff/properties"
Click on "Advance Style Properties"
Click on "Pitch Names"
Scroll down to "Pitch Names"
This will change all the notes in that clef to have letter names in them. Any new notes added in this clef will also have note names in them.
Repeat for any additional clefs.
Note: I have not tried this with different voices. I anticipate you may have to repeat for each voice.
