midi note input not working

Hello my keyboard is showing in the midi input drop down menu but when I click it it won't go in the input box. Output is no problem. I got the midi keyboard to work once to enter notes but can't anymore. I tried restarting and doing different steps but I can't use my piano keyboard to input notes anymore.
