I'm still using 3
I make charts just the way I want with it. Am I really missing anything major by not using 4.1? I know playback is improved., but that means little to me.

Since the engraving and sound in MuseScore 4 is of less concern to you, another consideration might be any features important to you in MuseScore 3, that are missing from MuseScore 4.
See:
https://musescore.org/en/node/334701
and look for the links to github to see current info. about the status of any features you currently rely on in MuseScore 3.
Eventually, they'll get added to MuseScore 4, and therefore some folks are staying with MuseScore 3 until such time.
