Noteheads with Ties

Would it be possible to create (or has someone already created) noteheads that have a short tie attached to them? These are particularly useful in percussion scores, and they can be helpful in some piano scores as well. I know it's possible to add a tie between notes, hide the second note, and then move the tie around, but this is time consuming and can cause playback issues. Adding a series of noteheads with short ties seems to me to be a simple and obvious solution.
