Failure of NEW Musescore 4 installation

Hello:
...and thanks for your effort to help me with the Musescore Installation failure issues - I'll try to re-post my posting.

My additional comments & findings are as follows:

  • contrary to some advice/suggestions of other Musescore users, I believe that there must be some bug/s between Ver 3 & 4 based on this observation: initially, after downloading & successfully installing the last Updates of VER 3.6.2 - it worked flawlessly (!), HOWEVER: after an extensive testing and trying to RE-INSTALL the NEW VER 4.1 NOT-ONLY the missing Graphics Library file/s error re-appeared but also to my shocking surprise ---> the well-working-VER 3.6.2 had started working 'erratically' in the form of distorted sequence/score sliding even from different keys and pitch of the melodic lines (!). In view of this Software behavior, I really think there was a strange interference within the score ...!

  • in such abnormal situations, I usually check for presence of some virus BUT - I did NOT find any, and I've re-installed my Windows 10 - Home, Version 20H2, OS Build 19042.1586 about 8 months ago ...

So in summary - I would really GREATLY APPRECIATE if anyone from the Musescore Programmers/Creators could at least help me where I could download this Graphics Library file/s which could possibly give us a clue what is the major cause of this installation failure ...?!?

Thanks for your further efforts to resolve this issue ...!

Tony H.

As I read the error message, the last sentence says something about the files being in the executable. That means that they most likely are. otherwise no one would be able to make it work. I did a search for one of the lib.dll files listed and it is there in my MU4 bin folder.

And, again, do you have an SSD and at least 8GB ram? And what make graphics do you have?

Hi:
I've replied to all similar questions many times BUT - nobody is answering my MAJOR SUGGESTION:
- is there ANYONE from the Musescore Programmers who could offer an advice HOW TO DOWNLOAD the GRAPHICS LIBRARY REQUIRED by Musescore ...! : BY DOWNLOADING & REPLACING a NEW COPY OF THE GRAPHICS LIBRARY we COULD CONFIRM AT LEAST that there is no CORRUPTED FILE/s since this is the ONLY ERROR displayed by Microsoft Troubleshooter - don't you think so ...?!?

No. I don't think so. Why? Even if someone could simply send you a copy of the graphics files, you would have no idea what to do with them. They would have to be in an exe. file so they could be installed in the proper places. Guess what, they are already in an exe. file that you get when you download the Hub and MU4. If there was a corruption, everyone would be having problems. No one else is reporting this.
And no, you haven't answered any of my questions.
There could also be some kind of permissions problem with the folders MU4 is trying to save to. You would need to know all of the various places that things get installed to, to be able to check for sure.

Hi:
You have some good points re '...if someone could simply send you a copy of the graphics files, you would have no idea what to do with them ...': I'm therefore searching in detail what 'Graphic Library specifically' has been actually been installed (if any?!?) OR 'some kind of permissions problem with the folders MU4', and I'm NOT finding more related files specified by the Microsoft Installation error/failure message in the folder, so I'm starting to believe that the Microsoft did NOT permit (for whatever-reasons) even to install (!) so - there could be hundred-of-different-reasons (as usually) ...!
So - if I'd find any clue about this issue ... I'll let the Forum know, and for the meantime - I'll review many comments related to Musescore Ver 3 & 4 crush-reports and comments ...the fact that many-users-have-as many problems is rather disappointing, and perhaps calling for more bug-searching & eliminating efforts, eh ...?!?

Since you are faced with a failure of installation, why not try a nightly build - which does not require installation - and can be run directly from the downloaded (and unzipped) folder. See:
https://musescore.org/en/nightly-builds
With a nightly, you can test your system's behavior and, if problems occur, the program's folder can simply be deleted. No need to uninstall anything.

Hi jm6stringer:
...AND MANY THANKS FOR YOUR ADVICE - you have provided me with EXACTLY the KIND HELP I'm searching for some time now ...thanks again (!), I'll follow up (in detail) on both of your suggestions ASAP - and if successful ...I'd certainly report it to the Forum for possible good benefit of other Musescore-users ...!
