How do you indicate 'damped' for bass drum/suspended cymbal/timpani, etc.
I was wondering how I would indicate that a percussion instrument should be 'damped' in the score, because MuseHub states that percussion instruments such as the bass drum/suspended cymbal/timpani, etc have a 'damped' playback option.
Is there a particular symbol to indicate a instrument should be played 'damped'?
Thank you.

usually a "closed" symbol "+", or in the case where you want it specifically open. "o"

Reading the text in the image, it is possible to understand "damped" to be the opposite of "let ring", in which case "damped" is the same as "choked". That is, first hit it (without any damping) and then quickly dampen it so that it the sound dies quickly. This is what it would mean for a cymbal, I think, and possibly also for a bass drum.
