Notation
The program won't allow me to complete the notation in the second measure of the score. I need a dotted quarter, eighth,dotted quarter, eighth. I can't add the second eighth, like there is no more room in the 4/4 measure.

That measure is only 7/8 long - he little grey minus sign at the top, right of the measure denotes "less than full length". Right-click on the measure and reset its duration to 4/4.
