Only showing rests when both staffs are empty

So, I've worked on several pieces for my piano students that are very easy, and they only play one note at a time. In method books like Faber and pretty much all others I've seen, rests are only used to indicate a complete silence. So, for example, if I were to write Old MacDonald starting on middle C, MuseScore by default would include a half-rest and quarter-rest in the bass clef and a quarter-rest at the end of the treble, but I would want it to hide those rests by default until after "O," when there's a complete silence.
I know I can just make rests invisible, but selecting each and every rest and unchecking "visible" can get tedious and repetitive, and for a notation style that's so universally used in easy piano music, I feel like there should be an easier way to do this. Is there either a setting to treat both staves as the same voice, or a shortcut to hiding a bunch of rests at once (or even just hiding all rests) that would get me at least close to what I'm going for here? hiding or showing a few rests as needed wouldn't feel nearly as bad as manually hiding all the ones I don't want.
