Delete where the barline is
I have a 4/4 time signature, and muse score for some reason put the first barline in the wrong place as if I wanted a pickup measure which I do not in this case.
I want to either delete the barline or to move it over. I can select it but I cannot delete it or move it from right to left. What am I missing?

You can't really move barlines the way that you want to but you can cut and paste music to a different start point. Post the score and say where you want everything to be placed.
You're not missing anything, barlines can't be moved.
If your first measure has the wrong length, right-click on it, open the measure properties and change the actual value to 4/4.
