Uninstall to get a new clean install of Musescore 4.2 Ubuntu

• Dec 21, 2023 - 16:49

Hey Ya'll,

I'm trying to uninstall Musescore and it's previous version so that I can get a clean install of the most recent version. What is the file name that I type in to remove in the sudo apt remove command? So far the App names that i have found in my system come back to me as "not installed so cannot remove". What the heck is going on here? I tried to physically move all the files from my computer to the trash bin but I did not "have permission to do that on all of them". also, as an aside, when I launch the new version it still says Musescore 4.1 in the top right corner.

Thanks

MuseScore is not installed or removed using apt - not in any supported way, anyhow. The only supported build of MsueScore is the AppImage you download directly from this site, and install via its "install" command line option, update via its "update" command line option, and remove via its "remove" command line option.

If you installed some sort of unsupported third party build via apt in the past, definitely best to get rid of it if possible, but unless you can remember where you got it from and how you installed it, then it will be difficult to advise on the best way to remove it.

Hi, greetings,
Here running Musescore with Ubuntu 20.04 LTS on two different computers - desktop & laptop - and the upgrade from 4.1.1 to 4.2 does not work properly, 4.1 remains in the launcher, and I am also looking for a fix to this frustrating bug. Any kind of real help welcomed
