Issues when saving scores to cloud

• Jan 11, 2024 - 21:57

Recently, I've been working on some bigger projects which I obviously can't complete in one sitting. To save space on my computer, I save them directly to the cloud. Often times when I try saving, I get messages saying things like, "Your score could not be saved, an unknown error occurred while saving your score," and "Your score could not be saved to the cloud, MuseScore.com returned and error code: 401 Authorization Required." Is there something I can do to fix this so I can save my work?

There do seem to be cloud saving issues right now. You might reset your MuseScore (from the help tab). Not sure if it will help, though. If space is such an issue, you might consider an sd card for storage.

I'm not sure what an SD card has to do with the question either. An SD card is the small memory card that you would insert into (for example) a digital camera so that the camera can store more photos than it can store natively, and so that those photos can be transferred to another device. Something similar to a flash drive for a computer with a different form factor. It relates exactly as much to a Mac as to a Windows computer.

I suspect (???) that bobjp was simply referring to external storage: e.g. a thumb drive or an external hard drive ... or an SD card (you can buy devices to plug them into your computer *shrug*)

However, I would say that OP's concern about "taking up too much space on his hard drive" is a non-issue. It's simply not anything that anyone needs to be concerned about. MuseScore files are too small (compared to the size of modern hard drives) to be concerned about. OP can be concerned about it if they insist, but it's not really a problem.

The FAQ https://musescore.org/en/faq#faq-359393 may be helplful. This issue may have to do with an expired authentication token: see Dkirtley's note posted May 5, 2024, in the thread titled "Your score could not be published" (https://musescore.org/en/node/363635). So it may be resolved by explicitly logging out of musescore.com and then logging back in. (May require clearing cache and cookies as well.)

A SD card (Secure Digital Memory Card) is just a memory card for which you need a slot on your computer or you buy an adapter and then use the USB interface. They come in different sizes, mini, micro and nano and are frequently used in e.g. mobile phones or digital cameras.

I'm not sure these are as fast as so call SSD Disks (Solid-State-Drive or Solid-State-Disk) which you install into your computer instead of a hard disk or in parallel to a hard disk.
