chord symbols moved on page makes them turn red
I have a project with a very simple chord chart, attached to the root notes on a staff. I entered them into the chart and everything is just fine. One of the chords was placed higher in the system and I just want to move it down, closer to the note. As soon as I move it, the chord symbol turns red. The chord is the same, I have not changed anything else, I just moved the symbol. And now it is red, which seems to mean that it is a wrong chord. Is there any way I can lock this in? I do not want these symbols looking at any other notes on the lead sheet. I want to be able to move the symbol anywhere I want to make it easier to read. And frankly, I do not remember MuseScore doing this in any earlier version.
One other odd thing, when I close the file, I get a message saying: "MuseScore quit unexpectedly". Could this have anything to do with it?

Are you editing this inside a part? There are certain colors that will show based on how it is synchronized with the score.

It doesn't matter if I edit within the chord chart only or if I edit in the entire lead sheet, as soon as I move a chord, it changes color, everywhere. When I release it, it looks normal but if IU select it again, it is red.
Interesting. I moved the D chord in measure 14 without issue. and was able to save and close. I'll poke around some more.
Yes, editing in parts can cause problems.

I am running a Mac Pro with tons of speed and storage. My file is on an external drive. Could it be something in my system?

This is a before and after. I just double checked. When I move the chord symbol inside the lead sheet with ALL the parts, it works. But when I move it inside just the chord part, it turns to red. Weird.

That is the color something changes to in a part when it is not the same in the score. That is why you are not seeing it in the score.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Can you tell me where I would find this? I'm digging around but no luck.

I looked at the handbook and this is what it said:
"When an item in a part is desynchronised, its colour when selected changes to orange and, according on which properties have been changed, the toggles which appear in the Properties panel under Score and part synchronisation will switch off:"
I am running a Mac - I clicked on the properties panel and there is no Score and Part Synchronisation. I clicked more but nothing else appeared. Has it been implemented on a Mac yet?

I wouldn’t use nightlies for work on scores.

On MuseScore 4.2. Make sure you are in the part.

Yes - that worked but when I move it in the part, it disables the position slider. Is there a way to change the default so that it always reflects the part - both ways? In other words, where've I move the chord symbol, it moves to that new position in both the separate part and the overall score.

Click the button/switch that says “position”

I did that but as soon as I move the chord symbol it, it switches off.

Then move the symbol where you want and then switch it back.

Got that. But there is no way to change the default to remain on? A preference so it always remains in the position I move it to? And I can turn it off if I want ...
