Linked clef and tab staves insist on same symbol
I created a linked staff to have notation and tablature, but I cannot get the tab staff to have the tab symbol and the clef staff to have the clef symbol—the same symbol always gets applied to both no matter what I do.
Is there a solution?
PS. This is on the current version of the app (running on macOS 11.7.10).

When you set up the score, add ( for example) Bass guitar first. Then add Bass guitar (tablature)

I've encountered the same issue ... and I vaguely recall that it can occur when altering an existing instrument that has a linked staff.
And surely you want the TAB clef showing in the lower linked staff ...
The solution I use always seems to work. Just click the unwanted bass clef and press delete. Let us know if that works.

And here's a link to a MuseScore 3.6.2 report

So it occurred because I started with the TAB staff and created a linked clef staff below it?
OK, deleted the tab staff, created a linked staff from the clef staff, but when I changed it to a tab, look how some notes stayed the same while the rest jumped up. What da heck is happening now?

Sorry if I was unclear ...
You don't have to change or delete any staves. Just the clef symbol itself. The steps are:
• Click on the Bass clef in your linked (lower) staff. The clef will highlight.
• Press delete and you should see the TAB staff in its place.

Ah, ok, thank you. Now to figure out how to align chord symbols....
