Musescore reverted my music when it upgraded

I had been working on a song for a few weeks; I occasionally hit "save", but it normally seems to just auto-save & auto-reload if the program ever crashes or something, so I stopped worrying about actually clicking save.

Today, MuseScore updated to version 4.2.1.240230937 (it asked my permission first). But when I re-opened the new version of the program, my song reverted to a version from about a week ago, losing quite a bit of progress. And I can't find any evidence of auto-save files anywhere. Quite aggravating!

I notice in "Diagnostic Paths", the "userBackupPath" is blank; I don't know if that's relevant, and I also don't know how to fix it.
