Shortening bar length to take into account pick up measure

Hi. I'm a bit of a newbie here. If I have a one note pick up measure in 3/4 time at the beginning of a piece and then some bars later a repeat after 2 notes how do I delete the unwanted note from the end bar containing the repeat?
