Missing toolbar?

• May 15, 2024 - 04:25

I have meticulously avoided using MuseScore 4 in order to remain with MuseScore 3 for following reasons:

1) There is no toolbar on my MuseScore PC screen for common actions such as save and open. If I have to click on File to access these functions, it's a pain in the you-know-what.
2) I cannot open any of the hundreds of MuseScore 3 files that I've created on MuseScore 4. I can't believe that the developers would create a new version that's not backwards compatible.

What is up with this?!?

1) No comment!
2) MuS 4 opens MuS 3 files perfectly. I do it dozens of times a week. It does require a tiny bit of re-formatting, but they open with no problems. I think some people are upset that once saved from MuS 4, they cannot re-open them in MuS 3, so you would be wise to make a backup copy of all MuS 3 files before you change them with MuS 4.

If you cannot open a MuS 3 file in MuS 4, post an example and describe exactly what happens when you try. "I click here, select this, then click there. Then I get this error message." Details, details, details!!!

1) You have your opinion but I doubt that any developer will want to change things. Personally, I value my screen real estate. In any program I use, one of the first things I do is try to remove clutter such as unnecessary toolbars. File save, new etc. icons and a little picture of a printer are first for the chop.

2) I don't know what you mean. How did you create hundreds of MuseScore 3 files using MuseScore 4? Or do you mean that you can't open MS3 files using MS4? If the latter, please post some scores.
