How to change a metric modulation

I found this recipe for how to modify an existing metric modulation, but in step 3 I was unable to find 'insert special characters'. How is this done in v4.3.1? FYI: I am trying to change the 'quarter=dotted quarter' to 'whole note=dotted whole note'.

  1. put in any metric modulation where you need it
  2. highlight one note-head
  3. go to properties, and scroll down to 'Text' and find 'Insert special characters'
  4. swap your unwanted note-head for a new one
