Musescore 4.5.1 Non-existent notes playing when there is a repeat/and tied trill

• Mar 30, 2025 - 21:25

I was composing a piece and there were notes overlapping even though the music was staccato I moved a phrase out of the way where the problem was and there were notes playing even though there were none, it was empty, the problem is happening 4 bars from a repeat, I removed the repeat and the notes stopped, I put the repeat back and the notes played even though there were none.

OS: Windows 10 Version 2009 or later, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore Studio version (64-bit): 4.5.1-250800846, revision: 603eca8

Listen to the last 8 bars (before the repeat), that's where the problem was found

Edit: Okay so I identified the problem being a glitch with a tied trill and the repeat

Please attach a score (.MSCZ file) that demonstrates the issue. In case you don't know How To attach a file, click the link.

Also, identify your computer's operating system and version, and MuseScore's version. You can get all three simultaneously by clicking on Help / About MuseScore from the main menu. Then click the copy button (two pieces of paper) next to the "Build" number. Paste that into your post.

I could not reproduce the problem with your score under MuseScore 4.5.1 and Ubuntu 22.04 LTS , but I was having the same problem with a score under the same Musescore version and OS some weeks ago. In may case, the problem was apparently caused by notes with staccato near the repeat symbol. I could solve the problem: 1.) by inserting e new measure for the one causing the problem, 2.) I copy the content of the "error" measure into the new one. 3.) I deleted the original "error" measure. After this steps, the score plays without problems. This was maybe a lucky case, but until now I could not discover the real problem. It is not the first time I have this problem since the new version 4.5. , but always was a repeat symbol involve in the problem.
