Not sure. What are you thinking? large scores tend to slow things down.

-- Do you mean the playback is slowed down, or do you mean that the overall process (composing, notating, adjusting, printing, etc.) is slowed down? I think, besides the fact that too many staves—around 30 and more—will not fit on physical paper for a score, there should also be, just like in any software, some limit set up to avoid possible malfunctions.

It depends. Someone just posted a problem score. 40 instruments, 77 measures. Playback is fine, but it takes almost an hour to make an mp3 using Muse Sounds. There have been instances where a score took a few minutes to load. Sometimes size makes a difference sometimes not.
My biggest score is 18 instruments and 70 measures. No problems.

I don't know either, but I can tell you that I have created a score that is 20 instruments, over 214 measures and has no problems.
