Copy part for another instrument

• Jul 8, 2024 - 00:16

Hello, I am new to MuseScore and trying to use it for a very specific task, and so far am unsuccessful. My church has lost both its pianist and organist. I've used a music scanner app to export the piano/organ music from our hymnal into MuseScore. Now I want to export a wav/mp3 of this music being played by both piano and hammond organ together, as it would have been played in church.

Thanks for any help!
Best regards,
Brett

What format did this export provide? MusicXML, PDF or what? Can you open the exported file in MuseScore? What you really need is a format of .musicxml, or .mxl, or .mscz.

If the scanned music can be imported into MuseScore, then you should be able copy the notes into two separate instruments (Piano and Hammond Organ). See attached example score. After that, MuseScore can export a sound file with File > Export... > Format > MP3 audio / WAV audio.

Note: before you can copy the notes, you may have to change the time signature and key signature of the example score to match the specific hymn.
