Why is rit. so big?
The default font for rit. (or ritard.) on this sheet I'm copying is just too big. See the size of the "rit." and "a tempo" on the right side (the pdf) and compare it to the ones on Musescore 4 on the left side.
The font for "a tempo" is customizable easily but for "rit". I don't know, I'm still looking for a workaround, maybe I'll just change the text for "a tempo" and make invisible tempo changes. What other options are there?

Go to menu->format->style->text styles
In the middle column of the dialog select "gradual tempo change"
The format you apply here affects rit., ral, and allargando etc.
But not "a tempo".
