Writing in alternate notes (sorry, there's probably a proper name for this...)
Hi there. I'm arranging for Carillon, a big learning experience.
There are different size instruments, and Composers need to decide about writing for a 3 octave, 4 octave, or larger instrument.
For example, my current tune I wrote for the home tower, 4.5 octaves.
But as written, couldn't be used on a 3 octave carillon.
So, I re-write, and usually can raise a bass note an octave; I did have a couple chords I had to move notes around.
Rather than make an 'A' arrangement and a 'B' arrangement, there must be away to notate alternate notes.
Suggestions?

Use small note heads or enclose the alternate notes in parentheses?
