Playback is high-pitched and choppy

• Sep 3, 2024 - 17:09

I've been having trouble with Musescore recently, in relation to playback, that being whenever I play something back/place a note down/ play a note on my MIDI/ anything sound related, it sounds pitched up several octaves, and on playing the track back it sounds choppy in addition to this. I've seen loads of people have the same problem, with people saying to set my buffer to above 1024 on Musescore and my audio drivers to 44.1kHz/48kHz, which I've done, but none of it seems to work. I plug my headphones into my computer through a USB converter (the headphone jack on my PC doesn't work), but they work fine in every other context. If someone could help me, that would be fantastic. Thank you.

Where you adjusted kHz, turn of Exclusive mode.
Control panel>Sound>Select your interface then Properties in the lower right>Advanced tab>Uncheck Exclusive mode. You can also set your bitrate lower if it helps.

Tried that out just there, doesn't seem to be helping. Could you clarify what you mean by bitrate? Sorry, just not very good with computer stuff XD. In any case, checking off Exclusive mode doesn't seem to have done much, any other way I could try to fix it? Thanks again.

Where you turned off Exclusive mode, there is a drop down list of bitrate settings. It may already be as low as it will go. Sometimes too low isn't good either. In MU4, set the buffer to 4096, and make sure your audio device is selected. Not just Default.
