After updating 4.4.1, when I load a score, I have lost all the tool bars including the bottom line, I can only see the score. How do I get them back please?

Thanks for the help! Indeed not, I had to create them from scratch again.
Now I'm dealing with a different issue, which is MuseScore doesn't survive putting the operative system to sleep, resulting in having to recover the session everytime I come back to work. So far I didn't lose anything because I save regularly, but it's still weird.

OK, I have got the main layout restored by View/ Restore the Default Layout. After saving and reopening the score the default layout is still there, but it is fully zoomed out and the score window is not fully down the screen. How can I restore Musescore to the previous version?

Yes certainly. Attached file shows what a score now looks like after View/Restore Settings applied. It is fully zoomed in and all you can see is the score header. You can zoom out to get normal size, but this has to be done every time a file is opened, and this is a nuisance. I don't know what to make of the tiny score underneath in a separate window.

That "tiny score underneath" is the Navigator. It can be shown/hidden from the View menu.
With this Navigator, there is a known problem that the main score somehow appears massively zoomed in, like on your screenshot. This is logged as https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/23033.

So the solution to the problem should be to hide the Navigator using View > Navigator. Please let me know if that helps!
