My score file won't open

I have been working on a piece for the last couple of months in MuseScore and today it has decided not to open. I have worked on this file in the last two days with no issues and it was open on my desktop earlier before I closed it (after saving) with no error messages. The file is no longer showing in any of my score or download folders. The only trace of this piece on my desktop is the list of recently opened documents.

I have been working on this piece for a while and would love to be able to recover it. Does anyone have any suggestions?
