Note input mode....double mouse click
MS4.2 chromebook/linux i5
Is there really a need to go into note input mode with a quick double click of the mouse button. It is very annoying to accidentally double click the mouse button and then not realize you are in input and add a note or two nowhere you intended. Then have to go back and erase what you added then Leave input mode to then do whatever movements you may have originally intended on doing ...before the mess happened you never intended to do!
Just wondering?

It doesn't on my Windows 11 system, nor has it on any previous system (at least, if it has I haven't noticed). In fact, after some more experimentation, I can't find a way to force MuseScore to enter input mode with a double-click anywhere. Maybe it's something unique to Chromebook?
Anybody else?

On my windows 11 setup, double click an "empty place" (meaning not double clicking on an element in the measure) in a measure activates note input mode.
Which is I think is really usefull when using a touch screen.

Ohh! I thought I had done that when I was experimenting earlier. Apparently I missed the measure when I tried it. Yes, double-clicking within a measure does, in fact, activate note input mode. "Ya larn sumthin new ever' day ... er yer DAID!" :-)
In that case, I'd say to OP: a) be more careful about double-clicking, and b) pay more attention to what's happening on-screen. Certainly the latter is good advice in ANY application.

Double clicking is not intended, just happens, occasionally. As for paying attention on screen, unless you move the pointer you do not easily notice you are in input mode. And if you them just grab something to shift you end up with a mess you did not plan.
Thanks for checking. When I hit an issue I am never sure if it is something with chromebook...something with linux....or something with linux on chromebook?

Glad it works for you. I still use mouse clicking even on my touch screen.

My W11 enters note input with a double click only with in an empty space in a measure.

Good to know. I will have to check again, but I think anywhere in the score window put me in note input. Why it is so annoying. Yet, from comments, noone else is really bothered. These old fingers after clicking in notes for 45 minutes to an hour sometime just twitches and hits a double click. With many other ways to enter input one more seems superfluous. Thanks for checking.

No, only in an empty place within the measure.

Yes! I checked again and it was only in a measure. Still that is easy enough to do when you might be trying to shift something around or move the score with mouse. Thanks for the comment

Don't move the score with the mouse - it's an obvious risk of altering notes and dragging things out of their original position. Use the mouse wheel to move vertically, and Shift + wheel to move sideways. Among many other ways to navigate: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/navigating-your-score

Yes, I do that if I am going back/forward multiple pages, but when I just need to move to bring something into sight....finger on the mouse and other hand not on the keyboard...it Is much easier and quicker.
But moving is not the issue. It is why do we need Another way of turning on input mode when that way might also come from an unintended action. It can simply be a problem waiting to happen. Which my 'twichy' finger triggers without even realizing or intending. Thanks for the thought
