How do I make accents appear on the top of the note stem? It's been tedious moving them by hand.

Select the accent and press X on the keyboard.
Select an accent, then use the "Inspector" to change Anchor setting to "Above Stave" or "Above Chord" then "Set as style " to make it the default behaviour.
